Christ Harbor United Methodist Church
Sunday, September 05, 2010

In the Fall of 1998, several families began meeting to form a new United Methodist congregation in the area around Huntington Place. Our first service was held January 3, 1999, in the Pastor’s den on Harmony Street in Northport. At that service one woman accepted Christ as her savior, another man rededicated his life to the Lord.

Since that time, Christ Harbor has grown from the den to an elementary school gym to a high school cafeteria and then to our own church  building. Best of all, many more people have come to a saving relationship with Jesus. Christ Harbor now looks towards our next decade of ministry. Our faith in God’s faithfulness took us from a handful in a den, to hundreds ina beautiful building. In this next Chapter of our church, God wants to stretch our faith and to show more of His faithfulness.

Our mission is to:
“Help Make Fully Devoted Disciples of Jesus Christ.”

Campaign FAQ’s:
What is Chapter Two?
Chapter Two is a three-year capital campaign to:
1. Reduce our mortgage – make funds available for future growth.
2. Prepare new leaders – as we grow, we need more leaders to help in our mission.
3. Make disciples – this is our mission as shown above.

Why do we need to do it now?
One of our biggest obstacles to reaching more people in the next decade is space. We need to build ahead of the need, but we cannot build until we reduce our debt.

What are we trying to accomplish?
We are trying to help people become fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ. And we need room for increasing numbers of people.

What will this do for us in the future?
Chapter Two will help to open the door for us to accomplish our goals and realize our vision of reaching people for Jesus.

How much will we be saving?
If Payment and Interest are doubled for the next 3 years, then total payoff our mortgage would occur 4 and a half years early
and the church saves over $151,000 in interest.

When will we build more space?
This will depend on our growth but at current growth rates, we will be at capacity in January 2014 (this is an estimate) and
thus must do something now to allow expansion when the time is right.

What is our current debt level?
Our mortgage level is $714,800 as of January 1, 2010.

Do we have a revenue target?
Yes, our target for this three-year campaign is $280,000.

How will we raise the money?
We will be asking for a cash operating and/or a 3 year pledge
Since that time, Christ Harbor has grown from the den to an elemen-
tary school gym to a high school cafeteria and then to our own church
building. Best of all, many more people have come to a saving relation-
ship with Jesus.
